Yell 3D Maps are, in form and function, very similar to Google Maps, Street View and Bing maps. The big difference is in the '3D' part. We've no idea how it works, but the end result is very cool - fully-fledged 3D maps that you can 'fly' around. With some exploration, you may notice all kinds of things about your city that you’d never seen from ground level.
The service has also clearly been designed with user-friendliness in mind, and its functionality and interface should be very familiar to anyone who’s used any of its competitors.
Yell 3D is still in its early stages of development at the moment, and as such there aren’t many places that offer a full 3D view. As of now, only cities with particular landmarks of interest such as Birmingham, London and Manchester have 3D imagery available.

The downside (there's always a downside!) is that this 3D feature requires a relatively fast computer and internet connection. If you’re not running on a fast connection with a fast computer, you’re probably better off sticking with Google Maps for the convenience for the time being (although that tends to be a little slow on older computers, too!).
Matthew Bottomley, head of innovations at Yell.com: "If Superman needed a plumber in Paddington in a hurry, he could now plan his flight on Yell.com.
"It's a fascinating opportunity to view your city from a different angle - as well as a brilliant new way to see exactly where you're going, before you leave home or the office.
"We all know that ordinary maps tell only part of the story. You can be right around the corner from the shop or restaurant you're trying to find, and not realise it's just over the nearest rooftop. Now you can actually look down and around from every angle from that very rooftop.
"It's all part of Yell's mission to perfectly match up local businesses with their local customers, so everyone gets just what they need."
We’re definitely keeping our eye on Yell 3D and we’re excited to see where it leads!
